Common questions

Why does a word show a microphone instead of a speaker?

Because nobody has recorded that word yet. The app plays only recordings made by human Awing speakers — it never synthesises Awing, because no text-to-speech voice can produce Awing tone correctly, and a wrong tone teaches a child the wrong word.

Tapping the microphone opens the recorder with that word already selected. If you speak Awing, that is how the gap gets closed.

Why do some words have no picture?

Some dictionary entries have no honest picture — grammar words, markers, and entries that name one specific local group or place. A blank card is deliberate there. A confidently wrong picture is worse than none.

Do I need an account?

No. Every lesson, quiz and game works fully offline with no account. Signing in with Google is optional and only adds progress sync across your devices.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on the device. If you signed in with Google and want your cloud data deleted as well, email samagids@gmail.com and we will delete it.

I found a wrong word, spelling or translation

Please tell us. Use Contribute in the app, or email us. Awing orthography decisions are made from the published sources and by Awing speakers, not guessed, so corrections from speakers are genuinely useful.

Is there anything to buy in the app?

No. The app is free, has no ads, no in-app purchases and no premium tier.
